“My school was pushing me, pushing me to just go straight to work after high school. Having CollegeBound let me know I had other options. They helped me a lot in the preparation for college and to stay in college... If I didn’t get into the CollegeBound program, I wouldn’t be where I am now.”
Brandon Scott graduated from Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School in 2002. In high school, Brandon never considered college as an option until he took an after school SAT Prep course. By the end of 10th grade, his SAT score was well over 1200. Brandon attended St. Mary’s College of Maryland where he majored in political science and earned a B. A. degree in 2006. He was a mentor for St. Mary’s Multicultural Achievement Peer Program, served as President of the Black Student Union and worked with the Admissions Office to plan the Annual Minority Perspective Student Recruitment Stay-over. After earning his degree, Brandon worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Maryland as a School Site Specialist, creating and maintaining mentor programs at six locations including Mervo. He is currently a Baltimore City Councilman.
