College Advisory Modules
Within each section of the 13 college access topics, you will
find an advising module plan (the outline and description
of the activities and/or procedures) followed by student handouts/resource
sheets. For each module, an estimate is provided for the amount
of time required to complete the activities (either one or
two 45-minute session(s)). The module plans can be adapted
when needed to allow more "class time" for some
activities and less for others.
The modules can be used with any high school grade level
and should be implemented in a way that encourages students
to build upon their portfolios. Information about student
preferences related to the college search, career surveys,
scholarship searches, notes from college visits, completed
college applications, and college application essays are examples
of student work that might be included in the individual portfolios.
