COLLEGEBOUND FOUNDATION SUPPORTING BALTIMORE'S HIGH SCHOOL GUIDANCE
COUNSELORS
For Immediate Release
The CollegeBound Foundation and the Baltimore City Public School Office of Guidance
Services have teamed-up to provide professional development training to high school
guidance counselors. Over the next twelve months, a series of planned workshops will be
given by CollegeBound staff and other experts in the field of college access.
CollegeBound's college access program will be the basis for the training.
The need for this specialized professional development exists because many highs school
guidance counselors are either new to the position or have moved-up from the K-8 grades.
The first workshop took place in December and another is planned to be held at Morgan
State University in September.
This type of public and private sector collaboration should result in more individualized
college advising that enables students to make the college choice that is a good fit
academically, socially, and financially. A college educated workforce will strengthen
our community's social and economic fabric.
These kids represent our future workforce and the next generation of community and business
leaders!
