1,000 STUDENTS ATTEND COLLEGEBOUND'S "ART SLAM"
AT MORGAN STATE UNIVERSITY
For Immediate Release
It doesn't get much better than the poetry and essay readings that were to be heard from
the stage of The Carl Murphy Fine Arts Center at Morgan State University on the last day
of November. No, it wasn't Bill Cosby-rather dozens of bright, hopeful elementary and
middle school children reciting original essays and poetry writings reflective of their
aspirations to pursue a college education.
A packed house of 1,000 elementary/middle school students from 41 Baltimore public schools
were made aware by their fellow classmates that college is not a dream, but a reality.
For CollegeBound it was an opportunity to plant the seeds of college into the minds of
young students who the Foundation will engage one-on-one when they move into their high
school years.
"This early initiative outreach effort, gives CollegeBound Foundation a chance to prepare
the future leaders of our City for great things--Great things that can only be attained
with a College education" - Teresa Perrera, Development Director
