The CollegeBound Foundation Scholar of the Week award recognizes one graduating senior from each CollegeBound Foundation-staffed Baltimore City public high school. They are recognized for their outstanding academic accomplishments, leadership and community service.
One nominee from each CollegeBound Foundation-staffed high school will be featured in a 30-second commercial to be aired in the spring for a one-week period. One nominee will be selected as the Scholar of the Year and will receive a $1,000 non-renewable scholarship.
Nominee must: be a current graduating high school senior; have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.5; be actively involved in one or more student organizations or high school athletic programs; demonstrate outstanding leadership and/or contributions to the community; demonstrate actions that indicate student is college-bound (i.e. taken college entrance exam(s), applied to college, taken a vigorous college prep class load, etc.); and submit an essay / writing sample (500 – 1,000 words) describing the importance of college.
