Determination and hard work have been vitally important to Avani Cheatham’s academic excellence at Western High. Even with a busy school schedule and a part-time job, Avani maintains a stellar GPA and ranks in the top three of her senior class. She is a member of the Student Government Association, the National Honor Society and The Fashionettes Club, a group of confident and poised young women who organize an annual fashion show at Western. Avani is a cheerful and tireless worker, who makes time to play in the varsity softball and volleyball teams. She recently completed a Law Links Internship, where she worked for a private law firm, Rifkin Weiner Livingston LLC in Baltimore’s Woodberry community. In addition, Avani has devoted her time to volunteer work by serving as an acolyte at her church and participating in Relay for Life. With a strong interest in creating art and problem-solving, Avani aspires to become a civil engineer and attend Howard University.
