2016 CollegeBound Scholar of the Year

I’Shea Boyd, Baltimore Polytechnic Institute

Born and raised in Baltimore City, I’Shea was the Class President at Baltimore Polytechnic for three consecutive years. She played sports, took AP courses, and was an active member of the National Honor Society. Her awards included the Albert Dowling Faculty Award, the Loyalty and Service Award, and the Outstanding Achievement in Mechanical Engineering Award. As part of the Project Lead the Way Program, I’Shea discovered her interest in engineering. She recently finished her third summer working as an engineering intern for Sound United’s Polk Audio. She enjoys robotics and is currently working on an engineering research project at Johns Hopkins University. I’Shea is now enrolled at the University of Maryland, College Park, having earned a full scholarship as an Incentive Awards Scholar. She intends to pursue a bachelor’s and master’s degree in electrical engineering.
