Tutor With ¡Adelante Latina! at CollegeBound – Weekly
¡Adelante Latina! at CollegeBound is three-year, free afterschool college access program serving academically high-achieving 10th–12th grade Latinas in Baltimore City public high schools. The program meets twice a week at the CollegeBound offices in Remington.
Each student is paired with a volunteer tutor who meets with them once a week during the school year. Ideally, tutors remain matched with their student for all three years of the program, though a one-year commitment is also welcome.
Spanish is not required. Tutors should have patience, a sense of humor, and enjoy working with teenagers. During weekly sessions, tutors support students with English assignments—particularly reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing—developed by the ¡Adelante Latina! instructional team.
In addition to academic support, tutors help students build organization and planning skills to better manage their schoolwork and responsibilities. During the student’s senior year, tutors also assist with personal statements and scholarship essays for college applications.
Tutors are expected to meet with their student once per week during the school year, either Tuesdays or Thursdays from 4:00–6:00 p.m.
