Nick is originally from Stockton, California, and received his bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He began his career in education as a substitute teacher in high schools and as a math tutor, covering algebra, calculus, and finance. Before moving to Baltimore, he worked as a language arts intervention teacher, and later as an instructor at the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. Nick earned his PhD in Philosophy from Johns Hopkins University, where his research focused on 18th and 19th century European thought. Since then, he has taught undergraduate philosophy at San Francisco State University, Johns Hopkins University, UMBC, and Mount St. Mary’s University. Enamored with Baltimore, and looking for new ways to support students, literacy, and the city’s college-going culture, Nick is eager to bring his experience in the classroom to further CollegeBound’s mission: the empowerment of Baltimore City Schools’ students to successfully pursue and accomplish their post-secondary goals.
