Tamekka was raised in Kansas where she attended the University of Kansas and later graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in African-American Studies and a minor in Criminal Justice. Tamekka moved to Baltimore after graduating from college; where she began a 20 year career in the financial industry crossing both retail and investment banking. During her career, she realized that many youth and young adults lack basic financial knowledge, she started volunteering at her church to give seminars on financial health, she also volunteers with Baltimore Urban Baseball Association. Tamekka loves spending her free time with her family, reading, dancing, and listening to music. She is currently working on her vinyl record collection and renovating her home.  Tamekka is excited to be a part of CollegeBound Foundation and is looking forward to promoting higher education to Baltimore City youth.
