Originally from Miami, Florida, Tica moved to Maryland in the fall of 2017. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Nova Southeastern University and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He is an advocate for the LGBTQ community in several ways including sitting on advisory boards, chair of the Baltimore city LGBTQ commission, Vice Chair of the Maryland Commission on LGBTQ affairs and the Healing City Trauma Informed Care Taskforce. Tica has served as a media spokesperson for Planned Parenthood of Maryland, providing training and regularly engaging in outreach events. As part of the Maryland Transgender Response team, he was a co-author of the Gender Affirming Care for Transgender and Nonbinary Marylanders; a white paper offering best practices for providing safe, affirming, and appropriate care to transgender and nonbinary individuals.
He is looking forward to helping CollegeBound students develop awareness to build confidence and break down barriers to attend college.
