Makensey Vanderburg is a leader both in and out of the classroom. She has excelled in Poly’s STEM based curriculum as humanities-based classes. She has developed strong writing skills though participation in Johns Hopkins University’s Writers in Baltimore Schools program and is published in multiple anthologies. She has served as co-president of Poly’s Creative Writing Club and an editor of the online magazine, Mad Writers Online.
Makensey is a College Board AP Scholar and would like to become a public health journalist, bridging her STEM and humanities experiences honed at Poly.
