The CollegeBound Scholar of the Week series, sponsored by Rosedale Federal Savings and Loan Association, recognizes high achieving students in CollegeBound-staffed Baltimore City public high schools. All nominees are current seniors, maintain a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.5, are actively involved in one or more student organizations or high school athletic programs, and demonstrate outstanding leadership and contributions to the community.
Each CollegeBound advisor nominates one student from their high school as their Scholar of the Week. A FOX45 news team travels with CollegeBound to each high school to film various video segments highlighting the student, producing a 30-second commercial that runs for a full week in the spring. Through the series, the Baltimore community receives the opportunity to learn about several of the many incredibly talented youth in the Baltimore City Schools education system.
One scholar will be chosen from the Scholars of the Week as the CollegeBound Scholar of the Year, a distinction that earns him or her a $1,000 renewal college scholarship and opportunity to speak at the annual Scholars’ Luncheon in July.
