From the day I started at Green Street Academy, Shereen was one of the first students that stood out because she was persistent with things that needed to be done to prepare for her next step in education. Being the first-born American child of her parents with her father being from Jamaica and Mother from St. Lucia, West Indies, education is very important to Shereen. She is one of the top 5 students that are tied with the same GPA for Valedictorian. Shereen is very active in and out of school, in school she is the team manager for Girls Volleyball and Boys Basketball, she is on the IT team making sure the computers are prepared for use, she tutors underclassman who needs an extra hand academically and she also helps out with the football team where and when needed. Outside of school Shereen is a part of UMB Cure, Baltimore Ravens Leadership Program, National Honor Society and The Elijah Cummings Youth Program whom she spent a summer in Israel with.
Shereen has big dreams of becoming a Trauma Surgeon, with plans to major in Pre-med, Biology or Chemistry for undergrad and then move on to medical school, she is excited about and very interested in studying abroad as it has always been a dream of hers to attend Oxford. All of Shereen teachers think highly of her and have high expectations of her. Shereen sometimes is under life pressures, but with her resilience she finds solutions to conquer obstacles that she may encounter.
Shereen is a wonderful student, that is why when choosing the scholar of the week she was the first student I thought of. She is always on top of things, she keeps me on track at times I call Shereen “my assistant”. Her determination to succeed is what drives her, I believe that Shereen will do excellent in college and become a leader there just as she has in High School.
