Khala is a proud Kentucky native and graduate of the University of Louisville, where she earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Communication. She holds a Masters in Divinity (M.Div.) from Christian Theological Seminary, in which her studies focused on urban ministry and equity. Most recently Khala served as the Director of Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment at Morgan State University. Prior to Morgan, she was the first Black Dean of Admissions for the College of Charleston and the Senior Associate Director of Diversity Recruitment and Outreach for Indiana University Bloomington.

Khala is an accomplished and nationally recognized thought leader within the college admission counseling profession. She has worked in youth development and education for over 20 years, and has been featured on CNN and in publications including the Guardian, the Washington Post, and The Journal of College Admission. Khala looks forward to bringing her passions and skills in college access to Collegebound to further our mission and goals in Baltimore City, which she has embraced as “home”.
